Storytelling is not just for bedtime!

(via alexmvargas)

Before the multiple platforms of communication we have come to know, love and depend upon, people sat around in circles listening to one another tell stories, passing along customs and culture through WOM (Word of Mouth) and in person. Imagine that?

So from generation to generation tribes, clans and/or families would retell the same stories - surely each storyteller would be innovative and kick it up a notch by embellishing certain details to keep it interesting.

Content management is really a corporate term for storytelling. The critical part of content management is keeping your customers engaged in whatever it is your are peddling. If your business is big or small you still want to “drive traffic” get those customers and keep people “talking”, online, offline, in print and in broadcast arenas via television or internet.

Here are 5 CONTENT STRATEGIES commonly used. (“Why are they commonly used?” you ask. Because its simple.  It’s like choosing a mode of transportation to get to a destination there are a few options but many vehicles:

1. Video and Podcasting, you don’t have to be Martin Scorsese to direct your video in order for it to be a success.  There is much to be said about the Business Casual - DYI aspect of video these days (i.e. YOUTube); this form of video offers a “tell it like it is” aspect of your story - it’s authentic. And authenticity appeals to the masses more than an overproduced puff piece about any product.

2. News Releases, this is still an effective way to get news out to journalists and blogger but there are some NEW RULES as ripped from Meerman Scott’s book, The New Rules of Marketing:

- Develop a New Release Strategy
- Use a distribution service
- Use RSS feeds
- Publish releases simultaneously on website
- Use links, like so,
- Use key words and phrases to maximize your SEO on your Media Content Management to reach your buyers
- Use key words and phrases to attract buyers when they are searching in Technorati, Stumble Upon and Delicious
- Tell your clients and prospects too!
